True to Jordans word, there wasn’t a single kiid in the join that didn’t have some snide remark about Phil attempted esacpe.  SOme wee actually clever, but most were stupid and only served to waist Phils time.  Misty had him working tripple time as punishment, So he really didn’t hae the time to listen or humor the inept.
Misty kept an annoyingly close watch on him and, for some odd reason, so did Jordan. Over the next few weeks, more and more of the wardens friends showed up.  They were a really strange bunch of people.  Phil was certine they would never normally be friends, so they must be work friends, which ment they were feds.
There was five total, including Misty, and she seemed to be the one in charge.  Which only showed the kids that she was not one to cross.  One of her friends was a man bigger than Rolan an he looked like he ate rusty cars for breakfast.  Seeing a man like that take orders and show the upmost respect to the warden set in stone where the power bar was and even the kids weren’t stupid enough to cross it.
Then there was the shortest; a man who had a thin face as small as the rest of him.  He had to be less than five feet and, in comparison to the meatal eating giant, eat air for breakfast.  One never saw him without a kind of whispy smile on his face and kind look in his eye.  He earned the kids respect simply cause no one could not smile back at the guy.
The other was a girl only about a year or two above Phil and Jordan.  She got heckled a lot, however put more than a few guys in their place.  She wasn’t bad looking, but Phil had seen much prettier girls with better personalities, but one was not to blame the civilized-deprived group of boys for thinking she was Venus herself.  She was a mean and crule person, but just like the others, she seemed to really respect Misty without question.
This made Phil watch Misty all the more, especilly since they seemed to like her more than a paycheck relationship should be.  One would call what he did evesdropping, but he called it investigating and research.

“Mist,” The girl, Hana, said handing over the paper work she’d been doing. “You need to get some sleep.”
“Yes mother,” misty sad trying to hide the yawn and failing miserable, “After i’m done with this chapter.”
Hana scowled and tapped her foot.  Misty expertly ignored her.  As Hana opened her mouth to try again the door flew open.
“Mist, there’s movment in the south,” The large man stated before turning around and running down the hall.
“Hana, go with Jull,” Misty snapped and reached for her jacket. “Make sure you guys doon’t go too far either.”
“Roger,” hana said running out after Jull.
misty swore as she looked at the time and realized that it was time for the evening meeting with the kids.  She reached over the desk for the intercom phone.
“Atention, Meeting caneceld to tomorrow night, the end, good night.”
That done, she ran down the hall and out the door.

Pihl watched them leave and hurried to follow.  Jordan and shared with him the conversation between Rolan and Misty while he’d been out.  Now was was positive that it wasn’t hallucinogenic poison that had hurt him like Rolan insisted, but those creepy.. things in the woods.
But when he got outside, there was nothing there.  The front yard was wide, and phil hadn’t been too far behind.  He couldn’t hear them either.  So he made his way to the edge of junipers and stopped.  It was still fairly light outside, but the memory of those things kept him firmly on that side of the bushes; however it did battle fiercely with his overwhelming curiosity…
He’d almost convinced himself that he was being silly when a shadow caught his eye.  Just past the hedge apples, playing with the evening light, a figure stood, its glowing yellow eyes fixed on his.  When the wind blew he could almost make out whispers; there was an emotion in those eyes that made it very clear what those whispers were talking about.
phils mouth was so dry he hardly realized his inability to swallow.  He knees wobbled as he stepped backward slowly and focused on getting oxygen to his brain.  Too scarred to take his eyes off the thing, he continued moving backward, but the thing just stood there.
“All men die...eventualy…”
Phil booked it.  That was no wind-whisper.  That thing had a voice not even a mother could tolerate, and it had spoken...but it had sounded like it was right next to him, not thirty yards away.
“Hey, Phil, what’s the hurry?” Jordan moved his packpack out of phils way as he ran into the room and slammed the door.  Cursing the lack of a lock he grabbed his desk chair and placed it against the door.
“Um, Phil, is a game of shark bait going on that i didn’t know about?”
Bait...phil didn’t feel too good about that phrase.  He colapsed onto his bed and covered his face with his hands.
“Ha, Phil, if i didn’t know you, and i do, I’d say you were freeked about something or other,” Jordan laughed and phil tried to, but that shape…
“Jordan,” Phil said instead, “Do...do you believe in monsters?”
“Huh?”
“Well, I mean, like...just scary supernatural stuff…”  Great, as if he didn’t already sound like a five year old.
“Like ghosts and stuff?”
“Sure,” Phil said regreting having said anything at all.  Jordan was quiet as he contemplated Phils question.  Making phil greatful once again to have a friend like Jordan.
“Well, I believe in spirits...but its all too complicated so i don’t really think about it too much.  but i think they exist and all.  Why, did you see one?”
He said this jokingly, but when phil turned his head to look at him, the smile left his face.  Phil was a very logical person.  Never once had jordan convinced him of anything he’d not seen with his own eyes.  Jordan doubted there was a single day in phils life that he even believed in santa.
so when phil gave looked at him as if he’d like to say he hadn’t, jordan knew he had.
“Whoa, so tell, where and what did it look like?”
Phil screwed up his face and covered it with his hand again.  “I don’t wanna,” He mummbled.
“Man, if you’re messin’ with me, i’m putting poison ivy in your sheets,” Jordan said, “Now spill.”
“The warden and her cronies don’t really act like government officials,”Phil said, trying to wrap his mind around it all.
“Yeah, whatever,” Jordan shrugged.  If phil didn’t want to talk, then fine; he would when he wanted to.
The more Phil  lay on his bed the more unrealistic everything seemed to be.  He was overthinking things, he was now positive.  He was stil sure they were up to something beyond takeing over for the old hag, but nothing seemed logical enough to suit him.  Maybe that was his problem.  nothing about this was logical!
Phil groaned and rolled over to stuff his face into his pillow.  The mere fact that he’d come to that conclusion went against everything phil believed in.
When sleep came it was very welcome.

Jordan sat bolt upright.  It was dark,  then it was light, blinding him.
“Phil, what the Hell?!”
His friend was gasping as he sank to the floor under the light switch.  He was starring out the window, so Jordan, eyes watering slightly, looked too.  There was nothing there.
“Common’ dude,” He grummbled.  “Turn off the light and go to bed.  sheesh, and try not to scream so loud.”
“I-I wasn’t the one who s-screemed…”  Phil stammered.  He was now looking at jordan with wide eyes.  “It was that thing…”
“What thing?”
“THAT THING!” Phil shouted, beside himself.  “I don’t know what it is!  Its no spirit cause its all….fleshy, but its not human either cause humans don’t have teath like that!”
Jordan rubbed his eyes.  He’d never seen Phil like this before; in a cold sweat, shaking, and rambling.
“Teeth,” Jordan nodded and got out of bed.  Walking over to Phil he sat down next to him.  They both stared out the window till jordan couldn’t stand the silence anymore.
“Did you see it there?  Or are we waiting for it?”
“It was there,” Phil said, calming down enough to feel very embarassed.  He’d woken up to get a drink of water and when he got back into bed he had seen its shadow on the wall.  How had it gotten past the trees and bushes that the warden had said was there to protect them?  He had thought-
BANG!
It was so fast neither jordan or phil reacted.
The door flew open just as Phils bed flew to one side.  Mist raised a sawed off shot gun and shot at the creature that rushed forward.

three times she shot, slowing it down each time.  The thing staggered and looked up with its only eye, the other haveing been shot by Misty.  She raised the gun again and shot it two more times.  Gore and blood littered the room and the creature crumppled to the floor, dead.
“Well,” the warden said with a small huff, “Good thing i got back in time.”
